Band News

The Mighty Cardinal Band will going to the annual UIL Contest on Thursday, March 11 at Pottsboro HS.

In other news, 6 MHS Band members have qualified for the State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Austin. These students performed as a six brass ensemble. The students are Alexis Wormington-trumpet, Ryan Barham-trumpet, Caroline Whitten-french horn, Cassidy Moore-trombone, Trevyn Sergeant-euphonium, and Flynn Peters-tuba.

The state contest is May 29 & 31 in Austin, TX.

Finally, The MHS Winter Drum Line competed in their first ever NTCA competition on Sat. Feb. 20 at Thomas Coliseum in the Birdville ISD. The group finished 4^th in the Scholastic A division. The drum line will compete twice more in the month of March. The NTCA contest hosted by Coppell HS is March 5 and the NTCA Percussion Championships hosted by South Grand Prairie HS will be on March 26.

Pennies for Patients Results
	Thanks to the generosity of our school and community, we have raised more than $1,100.00 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Way to go Cardinals!

From the Desk of Nurse Withers

The High School will be hosting a Meningococcal Vaccine Clinic offered by Collin County Health Services.

Collin County Health Services will be coming to the High School campus on May 5^th, from 1:30 to 4pm, to administer meningococcal and tetanus boosters to students who need them. This is an opportunity for our Seniors to fulfill their immunization requirements before they head off to college, and for any student to update their immunizations and prepare for the future. Participants must provide a current immunization record.

Please contact Melissa Withers, the school nurse, for prices and forms necessary to receive the immunization(s).
